The London Eye opened on 3/9/2000 in South Bank; Lambeth; London, UK. The observation wheel is 443 feet tall. There are 32 cabins capable of holding up to 25 people at one time resulting in a seating capacity of 800 passengers. The duration of the ride is 30 minutes, resulting in a total capacity of 1600 people per hour.

In March of 2008, 400 passengers were stranded aboard the Longon Eye for over an hour when engineers noticed an error in one of the drive tires and stopped the wheel to make emergency repairs. No one was injured.
